Green Apple Awards

GREEN APPLE AWARDS

Yesterday was rather special and marked another significant milestone for the whole team here at Waste to Wonder Worldwide.

Michael, Vince, Hayley and Paul travelled up to London to receive our ‘Green Champion Award 2023’ for sustainability at the Houses of Parliament as part of the Green Apple Awards, an annual international campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.

As if that wasn’t enough, we were also surprised on the day with the ‘Champion of Champions Award 2023! Unbelievable.

It’s a really wonderful feeling to have so many others recognise the true impact of what we are doing and this award is just another testament to the hard working, passionate team we have here at Waste to Wonder Worldwide.

We would like to congratulate all the other finalists and winners at this year’s Green Apple Awards and a big thank you to the judges, who each understood the social impact value that is delivered through each and every project we do.

Lots of exciting things are happening here at the moment and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Anticipation Builds: Our Excitement for COP28 in Dubai

The countdown has begun, and the anticipation is palpable – Our Managing Director Michael Amos is thrilled to be attending COP28 UAE in the vibrant city of Dubai. This gathering represents a beacon of hope, a platform where minds converge, ideas flourish, and the collective will to combat climate change shines brighter than ever.

Dubai, with its awe-inspiring skyline and forward-thinking spirit, serves as the perfect backdrop for this pivotal event. The juxtaposition of modernity and environmental consciousness is a testament to the emirate’s commitment to sustainable progress. It is a city that showcases what is possible when innovation and environmental stewardship walk hand in hand.

As we prepare to step onto the global stage at COP28, we are filled with a sense of purpose and determination. We recognize that the challenges we face are immense, but so too is our collective capacity for change. The exchange of knowledge, the forging of partnerships, and the unveiling of groundbreaking solutions promise to be the hallmarks of this momentous occasion.

The opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and visionary leaders from around the world is nothing short of exhilarating. It is a chance to be part of a global movement, to contribute our voices and those of the disadvantaged communities we support and share ideas and positive action striving for a more sustainable future.

The energy and passion that will permeate the conference halls are bound to be infectious, leaving an indelible mark on all who attend and we are delighted that Waste to Wonder Worldwide will be represented.

As Michael packs his bag and ready himself for this transformative journey, our hearts are filled with gratitude to the  British Chambers of Commerce and the British Business Group Dubai and Northern Emirates (BBG) for inviting us to take part. COP28 UAE in Dubai represents a pivotal moment in our shared history, and we are honoured to be a part of it.

Together, let us seize this opportunity to forge a path towards a sustainable future, leaving an enduring legacy for generations to come.

Buy Social Corporate Challenge impact
As a Social Enterprise UK member, we’ve been matched up with leading businesses on the Buy Social Corporate Challenge, which brings more social enterprises into big supply chains.

Thanks to this groundbreaking initiative, we’ve won contracts from big companies such as PWC in Dubai, Zurich in Switzerland, Astrid Zeneca in Dubai, AXA, CBRE, Compass group, Mitie, Nationwide, NFU Mutual and Sodexo. It’s great to see these major players committed to buying from social enterprise suppliers, using their purchasing power to have a positive impact.

A new report on the Challenge reveals this year has been the biggest and best yet, seeing corporate partners spend £99 million with social enterprises – making £355 million in total since this all began in 2016. The social value at the heart of our work is clearly a growing trend in the wider business world, and we’re pleased to be leading the way.
